Summary:
The New Detroit Science Center sought to improve its environmental science programs by implementing the Science of the Great Outdoors program designed to “inspire children and their families to discover, explore, and appreciate the environment”. The evaluation report, which was prepared for the program grant funder, contains the results from a multi-stage, multi-dimensional evaluation plan. The evaluation was designed to investigate multiple questions, including how the program impacted particpants’ attitudes, intentions and behaviors related to science and outdoor activities. Insights were gained through staff debriefings, participant surveys and anecdotal evidence.
